I was asked to review this delightful book published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. The book is a very nice hardbound copy, and will make a wonderful addition to any child’s library. Curious George was a favorite of my children when they were young, so I was happy to see a Curious George included in this book.

Ladybug Girl Books

I received two Ladybug Girl books to review. Ladybug Girl is Lulu, who loves to dress up in her Ladybug costume and pretend she has super powers.

Ladybug Girl and the Big Squad

In Ladybug Girl and The Bug Squad, Lulu has a playdate, and tells her Mom she knows exactly how she wants it to be. When her friends come over to play, things don’t go just as Lulu would like for them to. She winds up hurting her friends’ feelings. Lulu realizes she made a mistake, and is brave enough to apologize and try to make things right for her friend.

Ladybug Girl at the Beach

Lulu goes to the beach for the first time, and is afraid of the big ocean, with the waves and sounds it makes. She spends the day building sand castles, and watching other people laughing and playing in the water. Then, the ocean “steals” her bucket, and she bravely goes in to save it. Then she realizes she is in the water and nothing bad happened. She plays in the water for the rest of the day.

Both books are written by Jacky Davis and David Soman and illustrated by David Soman. Published by Dial Books, a division of Penguin Books. ISBN 9780803734197 They are most appropriate for children ages 3-5 years old, and sell for $16.95
