I received an assortment of frozen gluten free soups from Kettle Cuisine the other day. Kettle Cuisine has a a very good selection of soups, from Angus Beef Steak Chili with Beans to Thai Curry Chicken Soup to Organic Mushroom and Potato to Southwestern Chicken and Corn Chowder. As a matter of fact, they have 10 different varieties and all of them are gluten free. But as with any gluten free product, it doesn’t matter just that something is gluten free–it has to TASTE GOOD as well for me to buy it or try it a second time.
We tried two varietes today–the Angus Beef Steak Chili with Beans and the Southwestern Chicken and Corn Chowder. Both were delicious. So tasty in fact, that my non-gluten free husband actually raved about the chili! He said he was “very impressed” with the flavor of it, because he didn’t expect much from a frozen chili product. He loved it!
My chowder was delicious as well. It tasted very close to my home made chicken corn chowder, and the fact that all I had to do was pop it in the microwave, made me love it all the more. We’ll definitely be adding these soups to our shopping list in the future.
Angus Beef Steak Chili with Beans Ingredients: Tomatoes, (tomatoes, sea salt, naturally derived citric acid), angus beef, onions, red chili beans, green peppers, diced green chilies, (green chili peppers, water, salt, naturally derived citric acid), tomato paste (tomatoes, naturally derived citric acid), spices, pork fat, paprika, sea salt, garlic, cocoa powder, pepper sauce (distilled vinegar, red pepper, salt).

Tonight I tried the new Tyson® Grilled & Ready™ Frozen Chicken Breast Strips for dinner. For anything to make it to our table, it has to meet the following criteria: First, it has to be gluten free because I eat a gluten free diet. Second, it must be moist, because my husband has some issues with dry mouth. Tyson® Grilled & Ready™ Frozen Chicken Breast Strips met both of those requirements, and tasted delicious.
Tyson® Grilled & Ready™ Frozen Chicken Breast Fillets and Grilled & Ready™ Frozen and Refrigerated Chicken Breast Strips are fully-cooked, lean, boneless, skinless, recipe-ready chicken that help dramatically cut down on meal preparation time, giving families a jump start on meals. The perfect protein for any entrée, salad or sandwich, Tyson® Grilled & Ready™ Frozen Chicken Breast Fillets and Grilled & Ready™ Frozen and Refrigerated Chicken Breast Strips are a delicious and smart way to make eating right part of your routine.
I made one of our favorite chicken recipes: Chicken and Garlic over Gluten Free Pasta. You can use any green vegetable in this dish–tonight I used Swiss Chard. I have used asparagus, green beans, broccoli, and zucchinni at different times, and they all taste good in this.
Chicken & Garlic With Swiss Chard Over Gluten Free Pasta
1 bag Tyson® Grilled & Ready™ Frozen Chicken Breast Strips
1 garlic bulb, divided into cloves, peeled, and sliced
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 bunch Swiss Chard, cleaned and chopped, including stalks
salt and pepper to taste
12 oz your favorite gluten free pasta
Steam the Swiss Chard until desired doneness. I steam mine by putting it in a bowl, add about 1/8 cup of water, cover with plastic wrap, and put in microwave for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, sautee′ the garlic in olive oil for about three minutes. Add Tyson’s Grilled & Ready Chicken Breast Strips, and continue to cook for about 5 more minutes. Stir in steamed Swiss Chard, and cook for 1-2 minutes more to blend flavors. Salt and pepper to taste.
I serve this with a home made Gluten Free Chinese sauce:
3 tablespoons corn starch
1/8 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice Powder
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
3-4 tablespoons Gluten Free Soy Sauce
Stir all ingredients together well in a 2 cup glass measuring cup. Place in microwave and heat for 1 minute. Stir. Continue to cook in 1 minute increments, then stirring, until sauce is thick and shiny.
Tyson® Grilled & Ready™ product line includes these choices:
o Frozen Chicken Breast Fillets and Strips (suggested retail price $9.99)
o Refrigerated Chicken Breast Strips (suggested retail price $3.99)
o Oven Roasted Diced Chicken Breast
o Southwestern Chicken Breast Strips (not gluten free)
o Fajita Chicken Breast Strips
o Seasoned Beef Strips
I got mine at Publix at a retail price of $8.99 a bag for the Frozen Chicken Breast strips. You’ll find them in the freezer section of your grocery store.
Tyson’s provided me with three coupons each good for one free bag of their Grilled & Ready Products. One of my lucky readers will win all three coupons, worth about $25. If you have been looking for a delicious Italian gluten free meal, it is finally here! I received six different meals from Caesar’s to try out. So far, I have had the Manicotti with Cheese in Marinara Sauce, and the Stuffed Shells with Cheese in Marinara Sauce. Both of these have been sooo good!
Before I started eating a gluten free diet, I used to make stuffed shells about once every other week. Caesar’s taste just as good as I remember mine being, and they are much easier to prepare. Just take them out of the freezer, cut a slit in the plastic wrap on top of the package, and microwave for 7 minutes. The 11 oz. package is just the right size for dinner with a salad and a slice of gluten free bread, or take it for lunch for a quick and filling meal.
Caesar’s Pasta Gluten Free Stuffed Shells with Marinara Sauce has 370 calories with 37 grams of carbohydrate. Ingredients: Water, concentrated crushed tomatoes, onions, flour (rice flour, corn starch, tapioca flour, and xanthan gum), whole milk ricotta cheese (pasteurized cheese whey, whole milk, vinegar, and salt),canola oil, organic evaporated cane juice, garlic, part skim mozzarella cheese, (pasteurized milk, cheese cultures, salt, and enzymes), pasteurized egg whites, salt, romano cheese (sheep’s milk, sheep’s rennet, and salt) basil, red pepper, black pepper, oregano, and parsley.

I received a package of a variety of frozen dinners from Meals To Live. Meals To Live is strong advocate for diabetes prevention, healthy lifestyles, and proper nutrition. They have recently added several gluten free choices to their line of frozen meals.
The first one I tried was the Spinach Omelet. I am not usually a fan of frozen eggs, but this omelet was pretty good. Ingredients include Egg Whites, Milk, Mushrooms, Spinach, Onions, Turkey Breakfast Sausage Links , Rice Flour, and Cheddar Cheese. The flavors went together very well. This would make a good breakfast or lunch on the go.
